Quotes by Friedrich Nietzsche
Friedrich Nietzsche was a professor of classical philology at Basel until illness forced him to retire in 1879. He wrote Thus Spoke Zarathustra (1883–85), Beyond Good and Evil (1886) and Twilight of the Idols (1889), and suffered a mental collapse in 1889 from which he never recovered. The wording here follows early English translations by Thomas Common, Helen Zimmern and Anthony Ludovici.
I tell you: one must still have chaos in one, to give birth to a dancing star.
He who fights with monsters should be careful lest he thereby become a monster. And if thou gaze long into an abyss, the abyss will also gaze into thee.
That which does not kill me, makes me stronger.
