The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, / But in ourselves, that we are underlings.

About this quotation
Cassius says this to Brutus while recruiting him into the plot against Caesar. It is a persuasive argument, not a moral of the play: Cassius wants Brutus to stop accepting Caesar’s rule as fate. John Green’s 2012 novel borrowed the first half of the line for its title, which sent many readers back to the original.
