Come live with me and be my love, / And we will all the pleasures prove.

About this quotation
A shepherd invites his beloved to live with him and lists the pleasures of a countryside life. The poem was printed in 1599, six years after Marlowe’s death, and answered by Walter Raleigh’s “The Nymph’s Reply to the Shepherd”, which points out that such promises do not last.
